For More Than 20 Years…

I love books and for more than 20 years I went into bookstores and looked at the books on the shelves and I always found at least 10 books that I would want to buy.  While I was looking at those book shelves I would be reminded about my dream to someday see a book I wrote on that shelf.

For more that 20 years I would long for the day that I finally saw my book, a book I wrote, a book with my last name on the spine, on that shelf.

For more than 20 years I lived with the unfulfilled dream to be an author and that dream never went away. It just smoldered in my heart. Eventually that unfulfilled dream became a dull ache.

The Spring of 2014

In the Spring of 2014 I finally saw my book, a book I wrote, a book with my last name on the spine on the shelf in a bookstore. Yep, I cried that day.

Since that day, I have seen my book, a book I wrote, I book with my last name on the spine on the shelf in a number of bookstores and I have cried a number of times.

No One Told Me….

I was 45 years old when that happened. I had wanted to be author since my early 20s.

I recently realized that in all those years NO ONE  told me that I could write my first book.

If you have a unfulfilled dream smoldering in your heart to write your first book and no one has told you that you can, let me do that right now — You can write your first book.

You Can Write Your First Book

You really can. You can write you first  book.

I know that you can because I did. If I can write my first book, you can write your first book.

Two Promises

I can’t promise that if you write your first book that it will be published. However I can make you two promises.

Promise #1 – If you write your first book you will feel a sense of closure that will comfort your heart more more than you can imagine.

Promise #2 – If you don’t write your first book, it will never be published.

I Am Pulling For You!

If you decide to write your first book, let me know. I would love to cheer you on. Email me at [email protected]

I would love to hear from you. I would love to cheer you on.

The Steps To Writing Your First Book

This is a topic for a future article, however let me tell you one of those steps – Make sure that you are building your fan base as you write you book.

I call that step  –write the book, sell the book.

Write The Book – Sell The Book

Write the book, sell the book – at the same time. As you are writing the book, tell us about it. Start a Facebook page for you as an author, or start a Facebook page for your book itself. Do the same with Twitter.

Tell Us That You Have Started Your First Book

Go into your personal Facebook account and tell us what you are up to.

Some of your Facebook friends will give you grief and criticize you, I know because it happened to me in the summer of 2011.  When it happens to you, tell those “friends” that Steven told you that they would do that and send them a link to this article. Let me be the one tell those “friends” that they are idiots.

However, some of your friends will cheer on and some of your friends will become fans.

Trust me on this, you really do want to write the book and sell the book at the same time.
Few people write a book with no intention or hope of seeing it published.

Whether you are able to go the route of traditional publishing or if you self publish, you will want a fan base for your book already in place when it is published.

I Know, I Know…

Some of you can’t yet imagine seeing your book published.

Some of you are still trying to believe that you can really write your first book. You can. You really can. You can write you first book.

Honest.  If I can write my first book, you can write your first book.

That’s It,

I am Steven Shomler and I am pulling for you!
